Family trips: Priceless!

It was almost weekend. Friday morning and you started getting the feeling of something is eating you inside, pushing you to not want to spend your weekend at home. You do a quick search on the Internet before work, and again in the afternoon, after work. Your backpack was ready for an exciting adventure with your friends and partner.

Unfortunately, having children makes all of this seem like a distant dream…

The truth is, making a trip, even a short one, with your children, is not an easy process. However, it is worth every moment!

Family trips are a great way of showing to our children that we care about them, that we love them and that we really enjoy spending time with them. And by saying time, we mean quality time. The time that will remain forever written in their minds, hearts and souls.

We’re talking about the kind of quality time which will offer them entertainment, education, and will broaden their horizons. It will strengthen their self-confidence and sociability and will bring them in contact with new places, images and experiences, quite different from their everyday life. This, however, applies not only to children, but also to the grown ups. The need to escape the everyday routine remains strong regardless if one has children or not.

It goes without saying that in order for the trip to run smoothly, there must be excellent organisation, and the needs and interests of the children (depending on their age) must always be taken into account.

All the different types of activities: a walk in the countryside or on a trail, the contact with nature and animals, sports, even the meal that will follow (family meal or barbecue and picnic with friends) are just a few of the “snapshots” from an excursion that not only addresses all the members of the family, but can make them all happy at the same time.

Simply by hearing the (magic) word: “excursion”, those of us who have been fortunate enough to take trips with our parents can immediately recall the feelings of joy and excitement that we felt as children. The most surprising thing is that this longing for a trip remains alive even after so many years. Even now that we are in our parents position…

Certainly, going on a trip with children is… a challenge! At the same time, however, it is a unique opportunity to get to know our children better. It’s an opportunity for both parents and children to learn from one another…
